Timely Friends

A few weeks ago, I was volunteering at our pregnancy care center and met a mom who, after talking with her, I could tell just needed a friend that morning. As she shared her heart about her worries and desires, she said that she didn’t know what she would do with her 2 young daughters when she went into labor soon. I was able to tell her about Safe Families for Children and give her the number for our local Safe Families coordinator. I’m also the ministry lead for Safe Families at our church, and within a couple of days, I received a text from our Safe Families coordinator that a mom was needing help with her 2 young daughters while she is in the hospital having her baby!

I was immediately so excited, feeling certain this was the mom I had referred. I quickly sent the need out to our host families, and one of our host families responded. Within a couple more days, this mom was able to meet with the potential host family. One of the daughters was very nervous about staying with strangers. However, God perfectly orchestrated this host family to meet this specific need. What none of us knew was that the mom of this host family was also serving in an after school activity in our community that this girl was already going to. So they already knew each other!

The mom ended up having her baby within the next couple of weeks, and the host family was able to take these little girls to the hospital to meet their new baby brother. Our church was even able to send a meal to the mom through our host family to help her as she adjusts to a new little one. So thankful to be a part of this ministry and see firsthand the God who goes before us, knows our needs before we even ask, and meets them!
